		<description>Role: Design

The brief for the Charities Aid Foundation website stated that the site needed to have an AAA accessibility rating and was quite restrictive in terms of the page content and usability. It was therefore important for me to establish a set of rules for how the content was to be displayed and this was achieved by developing specific content modules which sat on a ridged grid structure. Once the ground rules were set in place the site really started to come together.

It was important for me to create a detailed style sheet so that the web development team could create a library of each module design and then quickly add modules and content to web pages where and when they were needed.

		<description>Role: Design, Art Direction and Illustration

The Slapometer is a ‘watch along’ website that lets you ‘vote with the back of your hand’ by slapping along to the live televised election debates. It’s a way for people to express their opinion on the leaders’ performances during the debate, by virtually ‘slapping’ them when they say something particularly wrong. Live graphs show what everybody is feeling, in real time.

Vote with the back of your hand here

Here are the original designs that I produced for the web application showing the Homepage, Statistics section and 'Live Debate' page.

Homepage
&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334460/slapometer_flow-1.jpg" width="670" height="1025" width_o="670" height_o="1025" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334460/slapometer_flow-1_o.jpg" data-mid="4035389"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Statistics section
&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334460/slapometer_flow-2.jpg" width="670" height="1025" width_o="670" height_o="1025" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334460/slapometer_flow-2_o.jpg" data-mid="4035396"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Live Debate
&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334460/slapometer_flow-3.jpg" width="670" height="1025" width_o="670" height_o="1025" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334460/slapometer_flow-3_o.jpg" data-mid="4035402"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

The final product was slightly altered from the original designs to meet completion deadlines - all the work including design, animation and build was done out of work hours by small team of dedicated Albion staff.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334460/slapometer.png" width="670" height="611" width_o="1036" height_o="945" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334460/slapometer_o.png" data-mid="2478072"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Initial designs for an iphone application were also completed.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334460/islap.jpg" width="670" height="620" width_o="670" height_o="620" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334460/islap_o.jpg" data-mid="4035492"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

This work generated massive press for Albion and was featured on National and International news channels, both in the UK and around the world including:

    * The Telegraph
    * Guido Fawkes
    * The Times
    * The Daily Star
    * Channel 4
    * Wall Street Journal
    * Spiegel
    * ITN
    * Le Post

The Debates

During the three debates, almost 5.5 million slaps were counted as people used the Slapometer to register their opinion on the leaders’ performances ‘live’.

Meridian Outdoor and Forrest Group helped us put Slapometer on big screens in Manchester and Glasgow too.

		<description>Role: Design, Art Direction

My task was to refresh giffgaff's online presence. This included producing a tool sheet and style guide, creating a standard format for online comms and a re-design of the brand website.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334459/insitu_homepage.jpg" width="670" height="470" width_o="670" height_o="470" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334459/insitu_homepage_o.jpg" data-mid="2718387"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;
The site design revolves around modules that form together to create individual pages. This enables giffgaff to have a huge amount of flexibility with their content.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334459/example page.jpg" width="670" height="826" width_o="670" height_o="826" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334459/example page_o.jpg" data-mid="2718388"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

The creation of the tool sheet was an important aspect of the project. Having a layered psd containing all the site elements enabled pages and content to be easily created.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334459/giffgaff_webguidestyle.jpg" width="670" height="2650" width_o="670" height_o="2650" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334459/giffgaff_webguidestyle_o.jpg" data-mid="2718448"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

I was also tasked with developing a style for the online comms. During this period giffgaff were still keen to use pixelated character animations so I also developed several characters and scenarios to use across their banners.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334459/product_banner.jpg" width="670" height="680" width_o="670" height_o="680" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/7285/334459/product_banner_o.jpg" data-mid="4070089"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

		<description>I produced this illustration for Ben Harris' Tube Truth series:

Elephant and Castle

Named after Richard Elephant and Diane Castle, a famous double act who combined magic and dance in the early 19th century. Having met on the thriving East London salsa dancing circuit, Elephant and Castle danced semi-professionally for almost a year. However after an unfulfilling period of narrowly missing out on prizes, Diane suggested that what the partnership needed was "A little bit of magic." Although no one could have envisaged how literal she was being. Soon after they were wowing Europe's aristocracy with "The Three Cups and Balls Waltz" and "The Saw the Lady in Half Bolero." Both drowned on the Titanic.

I have to give a shout out here to Stevo from PYKY, the untitled alphabet typeface used in the HEARTbeast logo was found on his site. It was originally designed in 1926 by Andre Vlaanderen, a Dutch Typographer. Great find Stevo!

		<description>The brief behind my major project was to brand an animation exhibition that would bring the world of non-commercial animation to the general public and help this medium find its place in mainstream British culture. Contemporary animation is producing some of the most arresting and innovative contemporary art in Britain today, its technically sophisticated, beautifully drawn and vividly imaginative. My project had to reflect these characteristics and be an innovative and curious brand that would reveal what a potentially fantastic medium contemporary animation is.

My final concept was to create an exhibition called Loom. I chose the name because of it’s meanings and connotations with emerging and creating as well as having a sinister side to it. I thought it important that the feel should match that of the animation and illustration styles used in contemporary animation and through this I decide to build my brand around an unusual character.
