Loom
The brief behind my major project was to brand an animation exhibition that would bring the world of non-commercial animation to the general public and help this medium find its place in mainstream British culture. Contemporary animation is producing some of the most arresting and innovative contemporary art in Britain today, its technically sophisticated, beautifully drawn and vividly imaginative. My project had to reflect these characteristics and be an innovative and curious brand that would reveal what a potentially fantastic medium contemporary animation is.
My final concept was to create an exhibition called Loom. I chose the name because of it’s meanings and connotations with emerging and creating as well as having a sinister side to it. I thought it important that the feel should match that of the animation and illustration styles used in contemporary animation and through this I decide to build my brand around an unusual character.
